This website is based on an art exhibition of the periodic table of the chemical elements by Marita Dyson and Stuart Flanagan, displayed at Melbourne’s City Library from 1 December 2008 – 8 January 2009. Each element has been artistically interpreted visually and sonically, and uploaded to this website.
Using the history, industrial application and material properties of chemical elements as a point of departure, these images and sounds explore issues related to mining, biotechnology, medicine, manufacturing, energy production, agriculture and nutrition.
This project was made possible with the support of a 2008 City of Melbourne Arts Project Grant.

Wikipedia was a significant resource for much of our research into chemical elements.
